Celeb Profile:: Yvonne Nelson

Yvonne Nelson has been in the news lately, clearly due to her increased popularity in Nigeria, thanks to Iyanya's shout out in Ur Waist "Yvonne Nelson, i've your medicine". She's Ghana's highest paid actress right now according to reports.
It was also reported that she's dating Iyanya at a point, well it wasn't true, we heared.

Here's a detailed profile of the Ghanaian star actress culled via her official website www.yvonne-nelson.com

I was born on Tuesday 12th of November 1985, to Miss Margaret Gaddy and Mr. O. Nelson in Accra. I spent my early years in Dansoman.  My wonderful mother raised me and thought me everything I need to know about the world and how to be different.

I started schooling at Pope John Paul nursery then moved on to St. Martins for my basic education.  After which, I attended Aggrey Memorial Senior High School where I studied for my WAEC exams.  I pursued a bachelor’s degree in Administration, Human Resource Management option at Central University College.

I got so much into music as far back as in Junior High School through Senior High School, and I was inspired by famous musicians such as Lauryn Hill and Nasir Jones, I yearned to be a musician.  Driven by the passion for music, I won my first pageant, Miss Aggrey, in Aggrey Memorial Senior High School, performing a song by Lauryn Hill. Surprisingly, in 2005 Miss Ghana Beauty pageant, I won the best talent award by performing a rap song I composed and Miss Photogenic along with two other awards.

With the exposure accrued from the Miss Ghana beauty pageant, I won a two-year contract as face of Maxim Cosmetics.  My acting career began in the famous series, Fortune Island, by Farm House Productions. I auditioned for a supporting role in the movie, Return of Beyonce by Venus Films.

My first lead role was in the movie Princess Tyra, after which I’ve shot over forty movies and still looking forward to making my nation and fans proud.

In recognition of my hard work and by God’s grace, I was nominated for the best Upcoming actress at the AMMA awards held in Nigeria, in 2007. I was awarded the best star actress at the Joy FM night with the stars and the best actress by the Nigerian Eye Newspaper in 2009.

In 2010, I was awarded Ghana’s favorite actress. Being the first Ghanaian to star in a movie shot in Ivory Coast has really deepened my acting career. One of my favorite Ghanaian Musician, Kojo Antwin also featured me in his music clip “Adea peh na”.
